Hi I am considering having some type of router bit made to help shape my braces. Charles Hoffman has one on a spindle shaper. Does anyone here shape their braces like this. I am not talking about radiusing the bottom, but getting the arched shape to the sides of the braces. Where could I get a router bit to do this??? Or is their another way to do this easily Andy I will attach a photo of Charles Hoffmans spindle shaper ![]() |

I think you'll need to get cutom made cutters for a deal like that. There's alternatives, depending on what machinery you have. Nifty little rig though eh? |

I bevel the sides of my braces on my spindle sander and it works great. I end up with a much cleaner and more consistant brace. as for the contour of the brace, I still do that with chisel and fingerplane. I will get pictures of my jig as soon as I can but I will be out of town for a few days. If you are interested PM me so I won't forget. I'm an old man ![]() |
